An adequate intake of macro and micronutrients is important for the fertility of a woman and your partner. The needs vary from person to person. Preconceptually, women who wish to have children should take folic acid tablets in addition to a balanced diet four weeks before the planned conception. These should be continued at least until the end of the first trimester of pregnancy. Good sources of folate are: cabbage, tomatoes, legumes, citrus fruits, whole grains, and eggs. Preconceptional attention should also be paid to an adequate iodine supply. Recommended: use of iodized table salt, if possible consumption of fatty sea fish twice a week, regular consumption of milk and dairy products.
Why is nutritional therapy important?
Nutritional therapy supports you in getting all the nutrients, energy and protein you need before you get pregnant.
Goals for advice:
Optimally increase fertility through nutrition through a wholesome, individually adapted diet
Aim for normal weight, avoidance of overweight and obesity (improves fertility)
four weeks before conception take foric acid tablets 400 μg folic acid / day continue until the end of the first trimester
Pay attention to a good iodine supply before conception
Fill iron stores before conception
holistic approach: avoidance of unnecessary stress
No nicotine
Luxury foods in moderation
Abstaining from alcohol
Increase / maintain movement in your everyday life
The advice is based on current scientific knowledge. The aim is to supply all of the fatty acids, micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) that are important for you, energy and protein, so that your body and your baby are optimally supplied ( to prevent malnutrition , this applies to pregnancy and breastfeeding) . For this purpose, foods that promote inflammation are specifically avoided and plenty of anti-inflammatory foods are consumed. You will learn how you can actively counteract inflammation through foods that naturally have antifungal (against fungi), antibacterial (against bacteria), antiviral (against viruses) and antioxidant as well as immune-boosting properties - that is, natural antibiotics.
If you are overweight, you should aim for weight reduction if you want to have children in order to prevent the risk of lipid metabolic diseases and developing gestational diabetes , as well as to increase fertility.
